This expedition will take you from Port Barton to El Nido over 3 days and 2 nights, along the wild west coast of Palawan. No road reaches most of this shore. In just three days you move through an extraordinary variety of landscapes: deserted islands and beaches, a protected wildlife sanctuary, sandbars rising from the sea, and a magnificent coastline without a single resort or tourist in sight. Few trips show you this much of Palawan’s wild nature at once, and almost no one ever sees this stretch of coast.

The trip goes through four different areas, and no two expeditions are exactly the same. There are many spots along the way, and your expedition team leader adjusts the itinerary based on the tide, the weather and other conditions to make the most of the day. That’s also what makes each Ultimate Adventure Tour truly unique.

The route, from south to north:

• Port Barton. You start on home water for the Port Barton crew: the islands of Port Barton Bay are some of the best spots for snorkeling, and for turtle watching as well. Green sea turtles feed on the seagrass here, so there’s a good chance you’ll swim with one on the very first day.
• Long Beach & San Vicente. At San Vicente you cruise along the longest beach in the Philippines, around 14 km of white sand, coconut palms and the turquoise water the area is known for. By evening you drop anchor and make camp on a quiet island beach, with the mainland just a distant line on the horizon.
• Malampaya Sound. These are the wildest waters of the trip, inside a protected sanctuary. The sound is one of the last homes of the Irrawaddy dolphin in the Philippines, dugongs feed on the seagrass beds, and sea eagles patrol the ridgeline. This is nature in the raw, a hidden gem where the sea meets the forest.
• The southern gate of Bacuit Bay. On the last stretch you explore some of the finest corners of Bacuit Bay, pushing on toward the spots the island-hopping day boats never reach, before you slip into El Nido by sea.

Where you sleep:

Camps are set on deserted island beaches off the coast, quiet and far from everything. The crew takes care of everything — setting up camp, cooking dinner and pouring you a drink — leaving you free to sit back and take in an incredible sky, the stars and the Milky Way stretched out overhead. Tents, mats and bedding are provided, every camp has toilets and fresh-water showers, and since there are no power outlets a power bank is the only thing to remember.

The exact meeting time and place in Port Barton will be sent to you when you book the tour online. Before taking part in this expedition you must understand that this is a one way trip. The boat will arrive in El Nido, from where you can fly out if you have a flight from there, plan a van transfer back to Puerto Princesa, or even continue with another expedition to Coron.

Deposit:

You only have to make a 30% confirmation deposit today to confirm your seats. You’ll settle the remaining balance in cash when you’re in Port Barton. If we have to cancel a departure because of the weather, you can reschedule it for another date, get a credit for another tour, or get a full refund.

Start Date and Booking Duration:

To book your expedition, you only have to select the start date. Your tour will last 3 days and 2 nights, even though the cart recap may show a duration of only one day. Departures run from October to May, with around one boat per week.
