Why Is El Nido Such A Great Place For Scuba Diving?

Scuba Diving in El Nido - Why is it a great place for divers?

First of all, and as you already know if you spent some time checking our pages about island hopping, El Nido is a place full of wonders. The environment you’ll be diving in is a must-see in itself: sugar-white sand beaches, blue lagoons and beautiful islands are what makes El Nido such a great place to visit. When you’ll get your head off the water, that’s simple: you’ll be in a true tropical paradise.

Second, if El Nido is such a great place to dive, it’s because it offers sites accessible to all kind of divers. There are walls, riffs, deep dive sites, tunnels, as well as easy sites you can also do while simply snorkeling. From the great beginner to the highly experimented diver, everyone can find great places to explore and have fun while diving in El Nido.

Third, the spots you’ll be diving in the Bacuit Bay are protected from the strong currents of the ocean. For that reason, it’s a much less dangerous place to dive than others you can find in the rest of the Philippines or in the South-East Asia (of course, this doesn’t mean any security measures should be disregarded at any time).

Fourth, what makes El Nido a great place for diving is its large divers community. When booking your fun dives or courses with us, you’ll be able to request a dive instructor or a dive master according to your preferred language: English, French, Spanish, or Tagalog. If taking a course, you’ll also be able to have the books in English or in French for instance.

Last but not least, there is a lot of flexibility in the organization of the dives. For instance, for groups of 4 people or more, you can request to have a private boat. You can also join a group mixing scuba divers and snorkelers – which is great if you’re part of a group where not everyone is a diver.

What Will You See While Diving In El Nido?

As a marine protected area, it counts 447 species of coral, 888 species of fish, 1700 species of crustaceans and nudibranches, and 5 species of marine turtles. In other words, there’s plenty of colorful, surprising and beautiful lifeforms to discover and observe underwater – a diver’s dream!

But that’s not all since you can also encounter sea turtles, dugongs (sea cow), whale sharks, manta rays, and occasionally even whales and dolphins.

El Nido also counts one of the most beautiful diving site in the Philippines: the famous South Miniloc and its cabbage corals, which was discovered by the French Commandant Jacques-Yves Cousteau in the 1970’s. This part of history is one of the thing that brang to the world the beauty of El Nido and its marine life.
